Family photoshoot in Central London - London family photographer
Parenting and making art have one wonderful thing in common which is learning to Let Go. Letting go of fear, control, non-realistic expectations thus making space for real moments of connection. In this space, we can create authentic portraits of love. Luckily the families I meet are always open to this new way of capturing family photos and this session is proof of how much joy and love there is when we are being present and focusing solely on meaningful moments of connection with our little ones.
We started our shoot bright and early near Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. What a splendid view is Big Ben these days after being hidden for six years under scaffolding. A short walk away is the similar gorgeous Parliament Street, Horse Guards Parade St-James’s Park and, of course, Buckingham Palace. The access to it was temporarily restricted to due to the huge crowds that the Queen’s passing has attracted, but we managed to capture some natural and candid portraits in the Memorial gardens.
My favourite photo of the photoshoot is the one with the rainbow umbrella and the mother-daughter kiss. It was a beautiful nod to their grandma who recently passed away and to whom the little girl was dearly attached. It’s such a meaningful portrait, a invitation to slow down and appreciate our dear ones… our ‘‘roots’’. As your London family photographer, I know for sure that this is what creates moments of connection that are worth documenting.
